Stimulant Detox Services in Charlotte

Operating with Discretion

Stimulants, also known as “uppers,” increase alertness and energy by stimulating the central nervous system. However, due to short-term effects that wear off quickly, they can also be extremely addictive, whether they’re in the form of prescription medications, like Adderall, or illicit substances, like cocaine. Those who become addicted take the drug orally or through snorting and injection. Because the drug can overstimulate the brain, long-term abuse can result in nerve damage and other serious effects and sometimes, death.

Freedom Detox has developed personalized treatment plans for all of our clients struggling with addiction, including those who are addicted to stimulants. Our Charlotte stimulant detox team is prepared to help you if you’re ready to battle your addiction.

Call (800) 475-2312 if you’re ready to receive treatment in the form of detoxification, or contact us online. We’re available 24/7 and operate with discretion because your privacy is important to us.

Types of Stimulants Commonly Abused

Stimulants work by increasing dopamine and norepinephrine, neurotransmitters situated in the brain. Stimulants that are prescribed are used to treat ADHD, narcolepsy, and sometimes obesity. The drug increases attention and concentration, which helps countless American kids and adults focus on their daily activities. The most common prescription stimulants include amphetamines, methylphenidates, and dextrophetamines.

Common types of stimulants include:

  • Adderall: This is the most popular ADHD treatment drug in the United States, and is consistently abused by teenagers and college students who use it to motivate them to get ahead in school. Many people assume it’s safe to take large amounts of Adderall because if children can take it, it must be safe.
  • Dexedrine: This stimulant is also used to treat ADHD, but is notorious for being used in past U.S. wars by military and special forces during extensive and tiring missions and operations.
  • Ritalin: While also used to treat hyperactive children, Ritalin differs from Adderall in that it’s a methylphenidate, not an amphetamine. However, the effects are similar.
  • Illicit substances: Besides the array of prescription stimulants available, stimulants frequently abused also include cocaine, crack cocaine, and crystal meth. These substances produce a shorter and more intense high than Adderall and Ritalin, which are known as time-release drugs.

Addiction to Stimulants Is Increasing

Unfortunately, stimulant abuse and addiction is increasing in the United States, especially among college students and young adults who use it to succeed in school and at work. In 2019 alone, there were an estimated 4.9 million nonmedical users of prescription stimulants ages 12 and older in the U.S.

Because so many people use stimulants like Adderall, individuals may not realize they are addicted or have a problem. However, stimulant use can produce health problems such as insomnia, anxiety, and increased blood pressure, and those who stop after prolonged use go through withdrawals like any other drug user.

You can stop taking stimulants now, before the effects get worse. Freedom Detox’s facility offers special treatment plans for each client, and a program that works to help those with addictions detox their bodies and learn how to reenter their lives.

Our Charlotte stimulant detox team is ready to help you – all you have to do is call (800) 475-2312 if you’re ready to receive it.
